i originally typed a fairly long response to all the insults and pointless dissections of my personality that have come in response to my last few entries. but instead of try to justify myself, i realized that i already have, all over this fucking blog. because it’s mine, and if any of you morons would take half a second to look before the fight between max and i you would see that i have never once tried to make myself out to be anything that i am not, and that the recent pictures are the tip of the iceberg in terms of what is drug related on this blog. do your homework, kids.

dear max

If you seriously fail to understand how this is offensive, please stop following my blog. now. ok. so its a costume. why not choose one that doesnt included tribal headwear? there is no indication that this is done in satire or to mock. its emulation. just because someone works with a certain class of minority groups and the underprivileged it means that they are incapable of acting in a way that is offensive to others? good deeds dont erase bad ones, or make you unable to commit them. so she’s not aryan. she’s still european. and even if she was australian, as you have suggested, the point is that this is was done without any regard for the appropriate setting or contxt. do you see tribal dress? is this a ceremony? no. its a girl posing for a “cute” picture for the internet. im not trying to say that im a better humanitarian than that girl or whatever, which is the fight you are trying to get me into. i dont have to prove that im a “better person” to know that what she is doing is offensive. oh, and if you really want to know, im japanese.

Ke$ha somehow got prettier….

hahah man my headdress is more awesome than I remember. if ke$ha looked like jodi I might actually like ke$ha.

im sure native americans living on reservations who are fighting to hold on to what few cultural symbols they have left are thrilled that this perfectly aryan girl is wearing a deeply significant religious symbol and posing in it for the internet. fuck. that.
not trying to start a fight or anything, but how is this acceptable? what’s going to be the next fashion hit, burkas or bindis?
maybe it’s because i grew up in oklahoma, the state that is the direct result of the treatment of native americans and one of the only states in the u.s. that is required to teach their state history, but this shit makes me so mad. maybe it’s all my native american friends. maybe it’s the time that ive spent visiting reservations and observing the religious rituals. it doesnt matter what it is- fashion and the pursuit of hipness is not an acceptable reason to parade around in highly meaningful cultural wear, especially when the wearer is from the culture responsible for the oppression of said previous culture!
have some goddamned common sense people.

Also on my birthday list: new messenger bag.
I want something bigger than what I have (Chrome Civilian), and I’m thinking of a R.E.Load Courier.

Go to P.A.C.
Seriously, the Cadillac of messenger bags. And the company that hooked us up for our bike tour. I can even send you a 10% off card if you want :)

jon and i are leaving for our bike tour in about a week and a half.

expect….. even less in the way of posts from me.

“We are so addicted to looking outside ourselves that we have lost access to our inner being almost completely. We are terrified to look inward, because our culture has given us no idea of what we will find. We may even think that if we do, we will be in danger of madness. This is one of the last and most resourceful ploys of ego to prevent us from discovering our real nature.

So we make our lives so hectic that we eliminate the slightest risk of looking into ourselves. Even the idea of meditation can scare people. When they hear the words egoless or emptiness, they think that experiencing those states will be like being thrown out the door of a spaceship to float forever in a dark, chilling void. Nothing could be further from the truth. But in a world dedicated to distraction, silence and stillness terrify us; we protect ourselves from them with noise and frantic busyness. Looking into the nature of our mind is the last thing we would dare to do.”
